Talking about 3 things that have been on your mind (but doesn’t require a dedicated post for each!)
A wonderful way to share tips, ideas and tell us what you have been obsessing about this past week & make new friends!
Last weekend I had a birthday. Since entering my thirties each passing year has not been something to look forward to. This year was the same, and so to feel better about it I turned to some retail therapy. I decided to foray into a different kind of shopping experience i.e. Online. Perhaps it was the birthday or something about the summer like sun, but I was in a mood to spoil myself, well have the hubby spoil me (his credit card after all). I was never one for online shopping because of my control freak tendency to hold, feel and examine the product at hand. Especially in regards to clothes, my ahem petite frame is tricky when it comes to sizing. However there was a ridiculous online sale at Kate Spade which my KS obsessed friend totally convinced me to get in on. I am so glad she did! I was proud that I restrained myself in regards to budget and picked two quirky cute items that fit my personality and something I know I will treasure until they fall apart.
The KS Ooh Lala Large Bella pouch, spoke to me naturally because of my new world of words!
The Cafe Scene phone cover spoke to me because it reminds me of a dear friend and how one day soon we both will be sitting at that cafe catching up on each other’s lives. She is already in Paris. I owe her a visit. The logistics just didn’t pan out this summer.
To celebrate my birthday then I decided to have a weekend of brunches to catch up with the women in my life. The first brunch was a nice casual outing at School Cafe with my cousins to laugh about things only family would understand and enjoy a delicious meal. I love family and it is mandatory for me to touch base with as many of them as possible. It’s like food for the soul. The second brunch was with my fabulous friends, those who have known me for a long time, who will indulge my eccentricities and not think twice when I ask them to dress up as the women of Mad Men and have a fancy brunch with me at Cafe Boulud in the Four Seasons. Thank you ladies for celebrating my birthday with me in comfort and in style!
For those of you who have been following my blog I hope you have picked up on the subtle hints at how amazing I think my husband is (or maybe it was too subtle?). I don’t know if this is a generally desi thing or not but us spouses don’t usually go around praising one another and are more likely to whine about the other instead. Perhaps at most it might be a covert compliment preceded by a heavy dose of sarcasm! So in hopes to correct that here goes (followed by lots of MashAllah and knocking on wood please, otherwise my mother in law will make sure all the goats in Pakistan have been sacrificed to counter the ‘evil eye’) My darling hubby is the most selfless, giving person I know with the purest heart (as I write this I can feel my ma in law breathing down my neck as the goats start to pile up! yikes) Ok sorry need to cut this short…so you get the drift i.e awesome hubby. This awesome man knew I made the difficult yet right choice of postponing this trip to beloved Paris, so I got this lovely package in the mail instead, something else I had been obsessing over for months.
May I present to you the newest member of our family, Natasha.
I LOVE HER. The perfect everyday bag for a crazy urban mama like myself constantly on the go. Cross bodies make life convenient and functional so I can be a hands free mama ready to tackle any complicated maneuver my toddler challenges me with.
So thank you my love (indeed it is the superficial things in life that make us happy 😉 – I kid I kid
